Egg Pack Guide

How are eggs labelled if birds are kept inside?

When an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (requiring that free range birds are kept inside) is established by Government veterinary authorities and free range hens are housed for their own safety, egg packs can continue to be labelled as free range for a period of up to 16 weeks. After that, consumers must be informed that the eggs have been laid by hens kept inside in barns.
